Writer's picture: Whitney FredericWhitney Frederic

Ingredients:

- Ripe plantains (1-2 per serving)

- Vegetable oil, for frying

- adobo seasoning blend

Instructions:

  1. Peel the ripe plantains and cut them into diagonal slices, about 1/2 inch thick.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan or skillet over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).

  3. Carefully place the plantain slices into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

  4. Fry the plantains for 2-3 minutes.

  5. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, transfer the fried plantains to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Using a plantain press, smash the plantains, then fry once again until golden brown.

  6. Optional: Sprinkle the fried plantains with adobo while they're still hot for a savory touch.

  7. Serve the fried plantains hot as a side dish or snack.

Enjoy your plaintains, they will make a fantastic accompaniment to savory dishes or can be enjoyed on their own as a tasty snack.
